This is mentorship. This is not university, and this is not an online course.
Each Lime Academy program combines practical skills – super-condensed, and immediately applicable – with the wisdom and personalized guidance of incredible performers who’ve done what you want to do. Your program begins with a 1-on-1 session with your mentor to understand your goals. The program then unfolds with a series of five masterclasses, where the mentor will dive deep into various topics, urging you to take action using the new tools you’ve been shown. Follow-up private sessions reinforce the masterclasses, molding the new tools to you and offering you personalized feedback to transform your performance.
Want to take your career to a whole new level? This is how.
• One 30-minute private mentoring session per week
• One 60-minute group masterclass per week

MASTERCLASS BREAKDOWN
I. Technique and Theory
Through simple but innovative daily exercises, we’ll revisit our approach to recognizing and understanding the fretboard through scales and triads.
-Rethinking major and minor scales, both up and down the neck as well as through intervals
-Introduction and application of altered scales: diminished, whole-tone, and augmented
-Additional approaches using pentatonics and chromaticism
II. Progressions
We’ll review simple progressions, like the blues and II-V-I, with a fresh look at interpretation and how we can use these fundamentals to tackle more complicated chord sequences.
-Grow your understanding of chords as they relate to each other, creating a more coherent framework for sections of songs and full songs
-Review progressions representative of different styles and how to spice up basic or seemingly boring combinations of chords
-Transposing progressions, moving them around the neck, and adding turnarounds
III. Chord Extensions
We’ll dig into how and when to add extensions to the chords on the page, creating richer and more colorful sounds and exploring tension with our note choices.
-When and how to apply 9ths, 11ths and 13ths, adding melodic content, and creating and releasing tension
-Riffs, licks and fills derived from these extensions, both mid-range and higher up on the neck
-Incorporating tritone substitutions and Coltrane changes for increased harmonic options
IV. Walking Bass
We’ll revisit walking in a jazz context using concepts of melody and chromaticism, so that everyone who solos underneath your lines will love you.
-A fresh look at walking, using leading tones and chromaticism
-Designing walking lines that stand alone as creative, melodic and fun to listen to
-Incorporating concepts from sessions II and III to imply additional chords and reharmonize standard progressions
V. Soloing
We’ll build on the concepts from session IV and elaborate as we transition to improvisation, when the spotlight is on you.
-Using the concepts from previous sessions, translate chords on the page to coherent melodies, starting simple and growing more intricate
-Adding leading tones and chromaticism for harmonic flavor
-Licks and patterns to take your soloing to the next level
